These days we don’t go out a lot,
The country’s so messed up.
Division between red and blue,
More wine please for my cup.
People are tenser nowadays,
It’s showing in their eyes.
The Amazon is burning fast,
Flames make the monkeys cry.
And athletes still take a knee,
And kids are shot in class.
While pundits blather on and on,
Political morass!
And the jobs aren’t coming back,
And healthcare we can’t pay.
Our kids can’t drink the goddamn tap,
Our pastors just say “pray.”
But change will never happen folks,
Except the climate kind.
So smoke ’em if you got ’em kids,
I’ve lost my fucking mind.
This week’s inspiration was Grape Therapy, a modest but satisfying Chardonnay that had a not unpleasant tartness to it that revealed more sweet fruit than acid. Not too sugary, it was, in a word, refreshing without being fussy. A solid B+.
